Do you think you will use it much? I was pondering this issue the other day. I have two accounts I have had for years (like 10). Everyone knows those accounts, and use of them is second nature. The school gave me the option to get correspondence sent to the school email or my own account. I have not chosen which to use, but I am leaning towards my existing account. I also do not see giving out my school account to friends or family. Whatchya doing?
I have to use it for school stuff—they’ll send official notices to that address. So I will use it in that capacity.
But I probably won’t use it for friends and family since I absolutely HATE the alias, which is not changeable. So I’ll probably use my Gmail account (my “real” Gmail account) for family and friends.
I’ll have to tell everyone a new address anyway, since the one they all have is my work address (and I’ve been here 6 years). I’ll probably send out a “we’ve moved” notice with new address, phone numbers, AND emails.
