signing on the dotted line

It’s really happening! Law School wants paperwork: my official undergraduate transcript and a certification of enrollment. (I got to check the “I will be enrolling and I have removed my name from all other schools’ lists” option. That was nice.)

I’ll pop my transcript request in the mail today, and Law School should get it by the end of the week if the post is cooperative; I think I can email the the certification form.

In other news, I completed my other loan applications last night, so I have asked for all the money I need for the school year. I’ll have a few more pieces of paperwork to sign later this summer, but I’m essentially done even with that chore.

It’s getting more real by the moment.

Yay! This post got me all excited even though my school hasn’t asked me for anything yet. (But they did send an email telling us we were going to get a letter which said that in July we’d be getting another letter about our term bill. So I guess that’s something.)

I love those kinds of emails; I’ve gotten a few: “Hi, this email is to let you know that we’re putting some stuff in the mail at the end of the month that will tell you more about the stuff that we’ll put in the mail at the end of next month. Have a great day!”

Meanwhile, I obsessively check the mailbox for my orientation packet.

When does school start for you? Mine isn’t until September 1st.

Orientation starts August 19, class starts on the 29th. I’m actually a little concerned about this 10-day orientation thing!

My orientation is four days starting on July 16, and classes start on the 22nd. I’m looking forawrd to the first couple weeks of August when I’m moved and unemployed.

How long are you working, Kristine?

Stag, I hope you mean August 16 and not July 16.

Also, I was going to work just until the end of July. But I think I will put in an extra week and have August 5 be my last day. I’ll earn some extra vacation time that way, and fill up that empty week that I would probably otherwise spend freaking out about packing. We’ll leave here on the 10th or so, and can’t get to our apartment any earlier than the 12th.

But once we’re there, I can enjoy a full week in Our New City before Orientation. That’s not very much time, is it?

Yeah, I meant Aug. I’ve been talking to moving companies this morning about moving “July 24,” so I got confused.

Wow, you were able to rent an apt that far off? That’s crazy. My LSC doesn’t have apt complexes; instead it’s smaller buildings with maybe 15-20 units, so you really have to wait until the landlord knows someone is leaving to rent.

Getting paid for unused vacation is sweet. My job makes my neck hurt, so I just want to get out of here. I don’t even care about the money.

One week isn’t a lot of time, but I think it’s enough.

Yeah, our apartment is in a big building, and they had a few empty units. I am not sure why they knew our unit would be available this far off, but I’m glad for it. That was my big worry with looking this weekend; I was afraid we’d end up just looking at buildings and neighborhoods and then we’d have to sign a lease from afar when availability was known.
