they lined their pockets at MY expense

Stupid LSAC. Thanks for the nice “eff you!” to me and to anyone who applied to law school last fall or earlier.

Many of us actually PAID our $50-something to be able to use LSAC’s fancy-dancy electronic application system, the one that automatically populates all your applications with your basic data. But new applicants, people applying August 2005 and after? Nope, they won’t pay. From now on, it’s gonna be FREE.

Somehow I don’t think the system got CHEAPER for LSAC to administer. They just decided they didn’t need more money from a group of people who are already strapped for cash, what with paying hundreds of dollars to a) take the LSAT, b) sign up for LSDAS, and, oh yes, c) pay application fees.

Think they could have done this last year? Absolutely. Do you think they care that thousands of people unnecessarily shelled out money that went directly into their pockets? Nope.

They suck.

Aww, so that’s what that email said? I shoulda read it–that’s such bullshit.

First comment, but been reading for a bit… that is unreal. Bastards. And really, once they have your transcripts, does it cost them anything more to distribute them to many schools instead of just the few you can do for your $107? I kind of hated LSDAS before, and I think I really hate them now.

Those wretched wretches. When are we going to take them down for their monopoly on the system? Doesn’t it strike anyone else as ironic that ONE company has complete control over access to law school?

Ironic is one word for it, C. Anticompetitive is another.

There’s a collection of antitrust suits I’ve been following very closely that are making their way through the system, alleging that the medical residency program (administered by one company) is an antitrust violation.

Yea, maybe it wasn’t such a good PR move to email thousands of last year’s applicants about this change. Quietly roll it out to next year’s bunch and we’d probably never be the wiser. Until today I hadn’t been to the LSAC site since my last app went complete back in January. Don’t tell me that feature is now free unless you’re planning on sending me a refund, jerks!

Enjoying

the fact that I got the LSAC to give me a refund last year… and when I did apps two years before that, that I did all my apps on paper. It pays to wait. ;-)…

Hey, I just got ripped off like all the rest of you. But since I didn’t get into law school this fall, that’s good news for me if I want to reapply! Two years for the price of one!

Oh yeah, I know about the medical residency cases. I remember thinking that there might be some correlation with our field when I first heard about them.

SG is such a positive guy.

Isn’t he? I think that’s why I like him—always chipper.
