no, no, no!!! oh nooooo

My boss just pointed out…snif…a hole in the elbow of my favorite black cardigan.

Oh and it’s a big hole! And two smaller ones are sprouting near it. I think I might cry. This cardigan is the perfect article of clothing, with three-quarter sleeves and a crew neck and no ribbing on the sleeves or the hem. It fits just right, flattering my shape without being bulky or baggy. It layers well. So I wear it a lot. I know my sharp little elbow, helped along by my desk, has been pushing its way through the knit for ages. No one saw it till now, though. And I am now very sad.

Mr. Angst has been threatening to burn this sweater for a while now. He won’t get his sneaky fingers on it, though. I think I need to find someone who can mend it.

weekend planning

So remember the road trip without A/C fiasco?

That road trip was for Family Wedding #1 of the summer. Family Wedding #2 is this weekend. Needless to say, I will not be driving. Neither will Mr. Angst, since his current vehicle lacks power steering and needs a new tire.

So instead, my heroic brother will be driving into My Fair City from His Even Hotter And Overpolluted Swamp Of A City (no offense, TP) to pick up me and Mr. Angst. Then we’ll all drive to That Other Major City In Our Fair State for the wedding. The best part is that Said Brother recently acquired a new vehicle, a BIG one with a DVD player and behind-the-seat screens. (Said Brother is effectively negating all the environmental good Mr. Angst and I will be perpetuating when we get rid of our cars later this summer.) I’m currently mentally compiling a list of DVDs to bring along for the trip. Funny aside: Last week, Said Brother, since he’ll probably never get a chance to watch movies in his car, parked in front of his house, popped in a movie, and sat in the backseat to watch it. I wonder what the neighbors think.

I know, Thursday’s not even over, yet I’m all ready to hop in the car and take off for parts north of here. And this is a short week!

this is the world we live in

I hate days like this.

London was the target of a terrorist (or a series of terrorist) attacks this morning.

I’m listening to NPR (my local station is playing the BBC instead of the usual morning music and talk show) and reading through the news and my heart is just sinking. My thoughts are with all those in London or who have loved ones in London.
