gag

If you are studying at school or in the library, certain social standards are relaxed. For instance, taking one’s shoes off in the library and walking–short distances, of course–barefoot is not totally appalling. The library is only a semi-public space.

But if you are studying in a coffeeshop, there is no relaxing of the standard. OK, maybe if you’re wearing flip-flops and you slip them off, and then have to stand/walk to adjust your chair or table. But if your shoes are SNEAKERS, taking them–and your socks!–off and then moving around the coffeehouse, changing tables, you have crossed a line.

She’s dressed so nicely, too–far nicer than I’d be dressed for Bar/Bri.

developments

Mr. Angst has a summer job! Most of the details are still up in the air (like, the pay…) and he’s not ecstatic over the project he’ll be working on, but he has gainful employment, and that’s always a good thing.

Meanwhile, I decided to take option #3, below, and am firmly ensconced at a table with a cup of tea, working. Here’s to summer.

the day, it is full of possibility

I was supposed to have a meeting this morning at 11, but it was cancelled at the last minute (well, rescheduled). This is fine with me, though it did leave me with something of a hole in the middle of my day. So I’m sitting here on my couch, doing some work (and posting), wondering how to fill the time I had already allotted for that meeting.

Options include:

  1. getting a manicure (this is not a bad idea, since I have a nail that either needs a repair or is going to get cut off all the way down to the quick)
  2. getting a pedicure (also not a bad idea, since it’s summer and I’m wearing sandals so much, but my feet are…um…not pretty)
  3. taking myself and my laptop to a coffee house and working (gets me out of the house, at least)
  4. shopping for clothes (I need some new shirts)
  5. going to the pool (disadvantage: may take up too much of my day)

What do you think?
