Attention One Els!

I personally have not composed a post for the incoming 1Ls this year (I did some of those last year, after I started law school) but I think they are completely valuable. Last year, I had to sift through so much BS when I was reading about law school–what to do to prepare (or what not to do), how to behave (or not to behave), what things to make time for (and what things to forget all about).

The Namby Pamby and Calculating Bitch of There’s No Competition in Law School have decided to step in and create a whole blog just for pre-law advice. I’m plugging it, mostly because I think advice from actual law students is good (compared to advice from other 0Ls on the boards) and any advice that’s current is good.

You can find their stuff here, at Wish I Would Have Known. Enjoy!

And if you’re an 0L with a blog and you’re not on my blogroll, let me know!

i do everything backwards

Leave it to me.

Our central AC has been out the last couple of days. Our landlord knows of the problem, loaned us a window unit for the time being, and set an appointment for the HVAC guy to come out tomorrow and take a look at things.

But meanwhile, we have no AC. In fact, we’re not even using the window unit right now since it has no noise-blocking properties and goes in the window right in front of the train. So I just have all the fans on and the windows open.

If I sit quietly and work on my computer, I stay pretty cool. It’s only in the mid-80s, after all, and we get a fair amount of shade. But NOOOO, I couldn’t sit and work quietly, without moving. No, instead, I started the day by finishing painting the office (and almost ran out of paint, so we may have to go get some more paint and do a second coat). Then I worked for 4-1/2 hours, quietly, without moving. And then I got stir crazy and swept and mopped (most of) the floors. And then I was still stir crazy, so I scrubbed the tub. And then I scrubbed the sink. Somewhere in there I did the dishes. I tried to lay down in the bedroom to cool off for a bit, but couldn’t be still. So I got back up.

I need to do another 4 or so hours of work today, but I can barely focus because I’m so hot now. Meh. Leave it to me.
