things that are important
My life would be so much easier right now if every legal scholar in the world would learn what a pincite is–and then make sure all their citations that need them have them.
So, um, if you’re an author, please write down page numbers. And then put those page numbers in your citations. It’s sort of important.

So noted, i will try to make sure my cite check is accurate, but be glad you aren’t looking at my paper with about 160 foot notes in 27 pages.
Amen!! Also, please include explanatory parentheticals! If you don’t, I have to put them in for you, and if I do that they’re likely to be snarky — which may or may not be your style.
Yeah, Citations, I was going to mention the explanatory parentheticals, too. But then I realized that if I dwelt on all of the tasks ahead of me, I would cry. Pincites were as far as I got before I felt my stomach turn over.
We decided over the summer at my job that if an attorney didn’t include the pincite, he did not get to benefit from the cite. No pincite, no credit.
Sure, I could read the entire case to find out why you think it says that, but I prefer to assume the failure to include a pincite indicates the case doesn’t say any such thing at all, and you’re just hoping I won’t notice.
Much nicer that way.
