I do remember how to work
I’ve been cranking away at my second draft all week, mostly in fits and starts, without a lot of sustained effort. But today, something changed. Maybe I’ve finally gotten into hardcore editing mode; maybe it’s just that my remaining time is short enough that the urgency has set in. (Though I haven’t felt very much stress, which weighs against that theory.) In any case, I’ve been working almost all day, with some breaks for food and sitcoms (My Name Is Earl was HYSTERICAL tonight), and I’ve accomplished a lot.
I feel good about the progress I’ve made today, and I made it farther than I expected to this evening. That means I can have a full weekend to do any last-minute research, go over the language with Garner, and make sure I’ve Bluebooked everything correctly. (I’m not sure my advisor cares about the Bluebooking, but I’d rather have it done right this time around than have to fight with it in a month when I have to turn in another draft to my journal editors.)
So, yeah. It’s late, I’m tired, and my eyes are starting to hurt. I’m pretty sure I’ll be peeling my contacts off my eyeballs, but at least I know I still remember how to work hard. It’s a good reminder with classes starting back up on Monday.

I wish I could say that *I* remember how to work hard. ::sigh::
Good luck in the upcoming semester!
